One Long Day......

Eve came to us on Thursday night and " Mommy and Daddy, look at my smile." At first we thought she was joking around looking at us with her crooked smile and she was laughing when she looked at us. But after a while I realized she was serious when I asked her to stop playing around (I was getting irritated) and she got upset. I began asking her a number of questions and then noticed that her face was swollen and she couldn't smile or wrinkle her nose or blink her eye on the right side. So I began doing research and calling on our friends (who are nurses). We came up with what we thought it might be (Bell's Palsy) but just to make sure we decided to take her to the doctor on Friday. We need to travel to the coast to see a doctor and do any decent shopping so we all decided to go to Stuart. Joshua was going to take her into the emergency room and I was going to try to get one or two things done by going shopping. We all piled into the van around 2pm on Friday and didn't get home until after midnight.......... It was one of the longest days I've had in a while. We would have been done and ready to come home within 2 hours but at the last minute the doctor wanted to get Eve a CAT scan just to "make sure" her problem wasn't being caused by something unseen. We proceeded to wait for the next 5 hours, Joshua with Eve in the hospital And me with the other 4 kids in the van or walking around or at the Chick-fil-a slide.................any place I could keep them from going crazy. All things considered, they did really well........... Anyway, Eve was diagnosed with Bell's Palsy which is a temporary paralysis of one side of the face. The cause is unknown. It usually clears up on its own in several weeks. She now has to wear an eye mask at night to keep her eye closed, drink from a straw otherwise she drools, her face is a little swollen and her smile is not all there, and she has to take "yucky medicine," but other than that she seems to be handling it pretty well.

Thank you to all our friends and family for your prayers..... We feel very blessed that it didn't turn out to be something more serious.

Thank you, Lord, for watching over our little girl...........................................
